No one produced more ice glass in the 1960s than Austrian lighting company JT Kalmar. Although it had earned its medal as a foundry specializing in cast bronze pieces that helped define the Vienna style in the 20th century, Kalmar will forever be known for its extensive work with ice glass. During the 1960s, the company went all in working exclusively with the art glass, employing it in every sconce, flush mount and chandelier produced. This tiered chandelier exemplifies both the craftsmanship and artistry of Kalmar. Glass tiles shaped like staggered "sticks" are arranged at alternating depths in three concentric tiered rings around nine lights. Not only visually beautiful, ice glass was also an They hang from a chrome canopy and stem supporting a steel frame. Venfield currently has a pair of ice glass pendants in our NYC showroom. Priced and sold individually.
