Vladimir Kagan

Vladimir Kagan (1927–2016) is one of the most influential American designers of the 20th century, known for his biomorphic, curvaceous furniture that blended functionality with sculptural elegance. A German émigré trained in cabinetmaking, Kagan established his New York studio in 1948 and became a central figure in post-war American modernism.

His iconic Serpentine sofas, lounge chairs, and floating case pieces were inspired by organic forms and influenced by contemporary art movements, including biomorphism and abstract expressionism.
