The Rostrato style, characterized by its unique textures and forms resembling a rostrum or beak, was developed by Ercole Barovier in the late 1930’s and remains a popular style, to this day. Although synonymous with Barovier and Toso, the Rostrato technique is shared with other glass houses today. This elegant pair of Rostrato lamps in blue and clear Murano glass look like they could have been made by Barovier himself. The irregular but similar tips of the glass interact with the light in a special way, diffusing it while at the same time allowing indirect light to pass through. The undulating surface of the glass also has the added effect of obscuring the light bulb.
