An authentic 19th-century Irish George III mahogany peat bucket (plate bucket / turf bucket), crafted with coopered staves bound by solid brass bands.
The bucket features a heavy-gauge, arched brass bail handle mounted on distinctively scrolled escutcheon plates and retains its original lead liner.
Designed originally to carry turf or peat to drawing-room hearths, the piece makes an exceptional floor planter, wine/champagne cooler, or fireside accent.
Antique condition. Wear consistent with age and use.
